Maybe I'm just trying it on the wrong bosses? At first I tried it against The Flesh, simply because that's a really easy boss, but its vulnerability to bleed/blight and generally odd body made it hard to avoid accidentally killing it, and its self-heal turned out to add up REAL fast once I was down to a single fighter. Either the boss dies accidentally to a crit or a misjudged amount of bleed/blight, or my last two characters get killed on the same turn, denying me the chance to finish the fight.
